“I have a passion for teaching kids to become readers, to become comfortable with a book, not daunted. Books shouldn’t be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful; and learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage.”
― Roald Dahl
The weekly reading group promotes reading for pleasure. Facilitated by a local social educator, children read a short story then discuss the key theme and moral of each story before taking part in a short group project.
Not only are children able to gain confidence in reading, this activity promotes Brazilian culture by exposing participants to iconic writers such as Monteiro Lobato and Clarice Lispector.
